Law

A pedestrian in a crosswalk (unless he or she has a Don’t Walk sign governing the crosswalk) has the right to assume cars will stop before entering the crosswalk.

Sample Recoveries

A pedestrian struck by a speeding driver, sustaining a fatal brain injury: $135,000 (limit of all available insurance policies). The at-fault driver’s insurer initially denied liability, but forensic evidence proved fault. Heirs also benefited from reduction in Medicare reimbursement, provided at no charge.
